What: A metro-wide, do good takeover — Giving Tuesday, powered by SHARE Omaha.

When: Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019

How: Each of us, contributing a single act of real-life good — throughout our city, into our world. Volunteer, donate, surprise someone with kindness — just put positivity out there. And watch it take over.

What's the history of Giving Tuesday?
Launched in the United States in 2012, Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving.

Giving Tuesday is the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday and kicks off the giving season. More information about the global campaign can be found at GivingTuesday.org.
This year, Giving Tuesday is December 3, 2019.

Why is Giving Tuesday powered by SHARE Omaha locally?

SHARE Omaha’s mission is to help nonprofits fulfill theirs. Giving Tuesday is an easy way for givers to connect with nonprofits they care about and surprise neighbors with kindness. This is a celebration of all acts of good and it feels like SHARE Omaha.

SHARE Omaha can’t wait to bring the international Giving Tuesday movement home with GivingTuesday402.org and GivingTuesday712.org.

What is the goal for #GivingTuesday402, #GivingTuesday712 and #24HoursofImpact?

This Giving Tuesday, let’s ignite local generosity. Volunteer, donate, surprise someone with kindness – just put positivity out there. And watch it take over.

Service to the community and each other is a huge part of the day’s success. This year 24 Hours of Impact, a community-wide day of service, will be held on Giving Tuesday, and this collaboration will streamline good being done across the metro.

Who can participate in Giving Tuesday?

Anyone! All Do Gooders are encouraged to share their plan for good at GivingTuesday402.org and GivingTuesday712.org.

All metro nonprofits are invited to participate in the Giving Tuesday movement. Go to our Giving Tuesday Toolkit for Nonprofits to register and receive plug-and-play templates.

How is SHARE Omaha working with community foundations and partners?

To make Giving Tuesday even bigger, this year 24 Hours of Impact will take place on Giving Tuesday. This community day of volunteerism, coordinated by Lutheran Family Services, will be one way to go out and do good on Dec. 3. Find your volunteer activity for 24 Hours of Impact here.

SHARE Omaha is excited to spread the giving by collaborating with:
-24 Hours of Impact hosted by Lutheran Family Services
-Omaha Gives! and Pottawattamie Gives! powered by Omaha Community Foundation
-Pottawattamie County Community Foundation

Does SHARE Omaha take a percent of donations?
SHARE Omaha does not charge nonprofits or givers for its services or benefits. For cash donations SHARE Omaha utilizes PayPal, which charges a low 2.2% + $0.30 service fee per transaction. Donors are invited to cover this fee for nonprofits.
Can I give through the Omaha Gives platform or to a nonprofit directly?

Absolutely! Give how and where you are comfortable. Just put positivity out there.

Will my nonprofit be featured on GivingTuesday402.org or GivingTuesday712.org?

Many nonprofits serve a population spread across the greater Omaha/CB area. If you primarily serve Nebraska, your organization will be included on GivingTuesday402.org. If you primarily serve Iowa, your organization will be included on GivingTuesday712.org.

However, if your organization is located in Nebraska and you wish to also be included on GivingTuesday712.org, (or vice-versa) you must meet both of the following criteria:

  • Have specific programs or services located in and serving Iowa (or vice-versa)

  • Have a separate Giving Tuesday goal or activity specifically for the benefit of Iowa (or vice-versa)

Final inclusion decisions will be made by SHARE Omaha.
